Our rigorous 7-step process ensures that you get the healthiest and tastiest millet flakes!
1. Remove impurities:We first clean the millet grains to remove any impurities.
2. Removing husk - After cleaning, the outer layer which is also called as hull or husk is removed with the help of a machine. This is also called dehulling.
3. Soaking - The millets are then soaked in clean water to reduce anti - nutrients which hinder nutrient absorption.
4. Sprouting process - The soaked millets are then left to sprout or germinate under suitable conditions. This process is unique, laborious and we do all these steps to ensure a better nutritional profile.
5. Roasting - The sprouted millets are then solar dried and gently roasted.
6. Flattening- They are then passed through a roller to flatten them into flakes. The process is not done yet!
7. Drying - We then dry these flakes in an oven to reduce moisture content and improve shelf life. The flakes are finally ready.

At Local Sparrow, we take great care in cleaning, dehulling, removing impurities of millets. We also follow strict hygiene practices at our processing and packaging center. Hence, what you get are clean, hygienically packed millet flakes, Unlike rice flakes or poha, millet flakes do not require rigorous washing or soaking.
Just add water little by litte enough to make the flakes moist and mix gently. Leave the millet flakes aside for 5-10 mins depending on the type of millet flakes and quantity and they are ready to be cooked like poha.
For overnight jars or when having with curd or milk, you can use the millet flakes directly.
