Made with traditional methods of boiling and rhythmic stirring of sugarcane juice in an iron wok on firewood, Local Sparrow's melt in your mouth jaggery powder is a delight! Natural, plant based cleansers like okra powder are used to cleanse and coagulate. We do not use any artificial colors, chemicals or additives. Heirloom variety sugarcane is grown with regenerative farming practices and is used by our partner in making this jaggery for you. The color of jaggery depends on a lot of factors including variety of sugarcane used (even heirloom ones), the soil, the growth cycle, the water, the climate, the natural life like worms and insects around it in the farm, the processing of sugarcane juice, etc. We do not add any colors, binders, synthetic flavours or any aroma to our jaggery powder which is why each batch is unqiue in flavour, aroma and appearance and you can expect some difference each time. This does not mean the quality of the jaggery is affected in any way.

Sugarcane jaggery is rich in a lot of micronutrients and for people who follow a plant based diet, this is an additional, simple way of adding iron to diet. With a host of antioxidants, jaggery is known to prevent body against free radicals.

Yes! We use organic sugarcane grown at our partner farm to make this jaggery powder and do not use any chemicals to process the jaggery. No colors or thickening agents or bleach is added to alter the apperance or flavour of the jaggery.

Because we do not treat the jaggery with any chemicals or bleach or sulphur or add anything for color or taste standardisation, natural jaggery powder has a shelf life of 6 months to a year at low temperatures. We highly recommend buying in batches depending on your usage to always consume the best jaggery powder.
